Increase of Covid-19 Delta variant:

Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you for your ongoing support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, COVID-19 case rates are increasing rapidly in Derby. As with the rest of the country most of these cases are the Delta variant which spreads much more quickly than the Alpha variant. The increase in cases is already having a significant impact on some schools and workplaces. It is too early to judge the impact on our hospitals, and we continue to monitor this closely...

Year 11 Centre-Assessed Grades:

Dear parent/carer,
As you are aware, examinations will not take place this year for our Year 11s. In lieu of examinations, schools are to award grades with oversight from both the examination boards and Ofqual. Schools have received guidance from JCQ which details how to award grades and what evidence to use.

The suggested evidence base is broad. As such, at West Park School we will take into account the full range of centre-held evidence. This evidence will include, but not be exclusive to, the following: Year 11 mock examinations; non-examination assessment (if applicable – this can be complete or not); progress review data; performances; practicals; CATs; assessments; End-of-Unit tests; practice examination questions; classwork; bookwork.
We have taken this approach to give our Year 11s every chance of achieving their best, evidence-backed grades.

If you have any questions about the above, please contact the Leadership Team.

Best regards,
Neil Allsop
