Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance

Careers Education, Advice Information and Guidance at West Park comprises of a range of careers activities and opportunities, building experience and knowledge as pupils progress through the school from year 7 to year 11. The programme is designed to meet the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for Careers education, highlighted in the government Careers Strategy (2017).

Activities Include

  • Impartial individual guidance
  • A progressive careers education programme which builds pupils’ knowledge and experiences

  • A range of opportunities to engage with the world of work – including opportunities to meet employers and attend apprenticeship talks and careers fairs.
  • A range of opportunities to engage with further and higher education
  • Opportunities to learn about and explore labour market information to assist with decision-making
  • STEM activities to raise the profile of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
  • Enterprise activities
  • Individual guidance from a Level 7 qualified careers practitioner – support and guidance to make post-14, post-16 and career decisions.

The school uses Unifrog as a method to record and collate careers and work-related experiences from Year 7 as pupils progress through the programme
